What does ComfyTex do?
ComfyTex converts Markdown into a compile-ready LaTeX package for academic papers, theses, and journal submissions. It is designed for researchers, students, and authors who want cleaner LaTeX output with less manual formatting work.
Is ComfyTex free?
Yes. ComfyTex is currently free during the beta period, so you can try the browser-based workflow without a paid subscription or a credit card.
Can I use ComfyTex for academic papers, theses, and journal submissions?
Yes. ComfyTex is aimed at academic writing workflows, including conference papers, journal manuscripts, theses, dissertations, and other research documents that ultimately need LaTeX output.
Is the output Overleaf-friendly?
Yes. ComfyTex outputs a complete package that can be uploaded to Overleaf for final review, collaboration, and compile checks. You can also compile it in a local TeX distribution if you prefer.
Do I need to install LaTeX locally to use ComfyTex?
No. ComfyTex runs in the browser, so you do not need a local LaTeX installation just to generate the output package. Local installation is optional if you want to compile outside Overleaf.
What Markdown features are supported?
ComfyTex supports core academic Markdown features including headings, inline and display math, tables, figures, bibliography files, and citation-oriented workflows. The exact guidance for clean conversion is documented in the Markdown guide.
How is ComfyTex different from Pandoc or generic AI tools?
ComfyTex is browser-based, template-aware, and focused on academic formatting. Compared with Pandoc or generic AI, it is designed to produce cleaner venue-specific LaTeX output with less manual cleanup for papers and submissions.
Do I keep control of the final .tex file?
Yes. The generated LaTeX source is yours to edit, review, and compile. ComfyTex is a structural conversion tool, not a lock-in document format.
